About Image Challenge

The New England Journal of Medicine features some of the most compelling medical graphics and illustrations found anywhere. The Image Challenge provides an opportunity for you to use these images to test your diagnostic and visual skills.

A new image and question appear each week, along with several possible answers. Before selecting an answer, you can take a closer look by zooming in and moving the image within the frame. You can also look at the relative distribution of answers chosen by other users.

After you have selected an answer, click "Check Answer" to find out whether your response was correct. If it was incorrect, keep trying until you choose the correct answer. Once the correct answer is selected, a "Read More" link brings you to the related Images in Clinical Medicine article.

A gallery of all published Image Challenges is presented in thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. Select any Image Challenge from the gallery, or try any number of additional questions. Choosing "Take Another Challenge" brings you to a new Challenge randomly chosen from the NEJM Image Challenge gallery. A PowerPoint version of the image and question can be downloaded for educational use.

We welcome your feedback. Please send comments to educationalservices@nejm.org.
